Most leaders, entrepreneurs, and CEOs I know share the same wiring: fast minds, fast pace. We walk faster. We talk faster. It's just how we're built.

That's not a problem. It's actually part of why we lead.

The problem shows up when we don't realize the rest of our team isn't wired the same way, and we never adjust.

Once you've been leading for a while, you get to choose your cadence. You can slow down on purpose, without losing who you are. That's self-awareness. And it's the difference between a leader people follow and a leader people just tolerate.

Where have you had to adjust your natural pace to actually lead your team well?

If you're two or three people into building something, you don't need to "find" a vision, you already have one.

You just haven't learned how to tell the story yet.

That's the momentum piece: naming the problem you see in the world, and showing people exactly how your team is going to solve it.

Are you sitting on a vision you haven't told yet? Let us know in the comments.

Your team doesn't ignore your vision because they don't care. It's because they haven't seen themselves in it yet.

I talked about this on the podcast this week with Lori.

πŸ‘‰ The leaders who get real buy-in aren't the ones with the loudest vision. They're the ones who name names. Who say "Mary, I need you for this part" and "Johnny, here's where I see you fitting in."

People don't follow a vision. They follow the version of themselves they see inside it.

Where in your vision have you left people out without realizing it?

"Money is a bribe." Not because pay doesn't matter β€” but because a raise has a shelf life. By Saturday morning it's rent, groceries, and a bigger TV.

A vision doesn't expire on payday. Get your team focused on the vision, and eventually β€” not immediately, but eventually β€” the money starts chasing you instead of the other way around.

Have you seen this play out on your own team? Tell us in the comments.

A goal has a deadline. A vision doesn't, it's the reason the goals exist in the first place.

"My vision is that I want to be 50 states with a global reach." That's not a goal for the quarter. That's the thing every goal is quietly pointing toward.

What's the vision behind your goals this year? Drop it in the comments.

For too long, kids have fallen into the trades instead of choosing them. I want to change that.

If a young person isn't set on the college path, we can get them into trades early - junior high sponsorships, real exposure, real skills - and grow them into leadership and management faster than almost any other route out there.

The trades pay well. They build careers. And they deserve to be presented as a first choice, not a backup plan.

πŸ’¬ What's one thing you wish someone had told you about the trades before you had to figure it out yourself?

I used to think a good team just did what I told them.

I was wrong. A visionary's ideas don't mean much without an integrator strong enough to slow them down, push back, and say "not today" when it's needed. I had to learn that the hard way, and it changed how I lead.

πŸ’¬ If you're the visionary in your business, who's empowered to tell you no?
Tell me in the comments.

I used to think being the visionary meant I was usually right.

That's a dangerous place to lead from.

I could walk into a room, paint the big picture, and just run right over the people trying to build it. I had to learn that a good integrator isn't the one who agrees with everything I say. It's the one who's empowered enough to look at me and say, "we can't do that today."

That pushback isn't a threat to the vision. It's what makes the vision actually happen.

Where in your business do you need someone empowered to tell you "not today"?

Your team isn't listening to your core values. They're watching them.

Every core value you claim gets tested the moment someone on your team is deciding whether to mimic it or ignore it. If it's not something you're actually living, they'll know and they won't align with it.

So before you write the next value on the wall, ask: is this something my people can already see me doing?

Culture isn't a statement. It's a pattern of behavior your team is watching, whether you meant for them to or not.

You can hire for skill all day long. But you can't teach character, and you can't teach motivation. Those either show up in the interview, or they don't.

Here's what I keep coming back to: your core values are only real if your people can point to a moment where they watched you live them out. Not read them. Watched them.

What's a core value your team has actually seen you live, not just say? Drop it in the comments.
