A Busy Week on the Sarasota Bayfront!

This week, JP Services had the privilege of working alongside an archaeological team during the demolition and removal of a pool on the Sarasota Bayfront.

Due to the area’s rich history and the presence of known Native American archaeological sites, the archaeologists remained on-site throughout the entire project. As our crew carefully removed each section of the pool, the archaeological team inspected the excavation to ensure any historically significant findings would be properly documented and preserved.

Uncovering History at the Charles Ringling Estate.

Every demolition project has a story, but some are over a century in the making.

Historic Charles Ringling estate, our team uncovered a massive underground structure believed to have been part of an old cistern, water basin, or runoff collection system. What made this discovery so incredible was the craftsmanship behind it walls measuring nearly fourteen inches thick and an unbelievable amount of reinforcing steel that has stood the test of time.

Working hand-in-hand with archaeologists, JP Services carefully assisted in exposing the structure while preserving historic materials, including original brickwork found throughout the site. It’s not every day that demolition crews get the opportunity to help uncover a piece of Sarasota’s history.

Projects like this remind us that demolition isn’t just about removing the old sometimes it’s about discovering and preserving the stories hidden beneath it.
