Jon F. Swift Construction

This week our field and office teams came together for continuing education on OSHA principles, from hazard recognition to the everyday habits that send every person home safe at the end of the day. Superintendents and project management all at the same table, because safety is everyone’s job.

Since 1979, Jon F. Swift Construction has built across Sarasota County, often inside schools, parks and occupied facilities where the public is right next to our work. That’s a responsibility we take seriously. Ongoing training keeps our skills sharp, our jobsites organized and our people and communities protected.

We were proud to cut the ribbon on the renovation project at GC Herring Park for Charlotte County, Florida Government. Building spaces where families and friends can gather makes every day worth it.

Here's a (no filter) sneak peek at the Snook Haven Improvements project we're building for Sarasota County Government. Snook Haven has been a beloved stop on the Myakka for generations, and it's been a privilege for our team to help carry that legacy forward, protecting the character of this Old Florida landmark while getting it ready for the next generation of visitors.

Mornings like this are a good reminder of why this work matters. Stay tuned for more as we head toward the finish line.

Jon Swift paid a visit to Mrs. Annicelli, principal at Sarasota County Schools' Booker Elementary School. Through the Swift Family Foundation, we contributed $5,000 to the school to support reading efforts for kids kindergarten through third grade.

Why is this so important?
Studies have found that third graders who lack proficiency in reading are FOUR TIMES more likely to become high school dropouts.

We are proud to support Emma Booker Elementary and the changes they are making in the lives of kids right here in our community.

Employee Spotlight: Jason D.

Meet Jason D., one of our Superintendents at Jon F. Swift Construction.

Before Swift, Jason spent his career erecting metal buildings, so he came in already knowing how to read a structure and keep a crew moving. You can see it in how he runs a site — steady, organized and always a step ahead.

Outside of work Jason is a big part of our local community. He's heavily involved with the Sarasota County Fair and local agriculture, putting in real time and effort year after year.

That same mindset shows up on the job too. Jason's the kind of guy who does more than what's asked of him, and it doesn't go unnoticed. We're lucky to have him.

Thanks for all you do, Jason!

Throwback photo to Career Day at Fruitville Elementary School in 2016 while we were on site building their new two story classroom building! Our very own VP Justin taking a selfie from the top of a lift inspiring our next generation to join us in the world of construction!

Our team served as Construction Manager at Risk on this streetscape project for the City of Sarasota — installing a roundabout at an existing signalized intersection and reworking all four corners in the heart of downtown.

The scope: 6", 8" and 12" ductile iron water main, new curb and sidewalks, concrete pavement and brick pavers in the roadway, raised planters with brick faces and coping, landscaping and irrigation, decorative lighting and the foundation for a public art sculpture.

Projects like this take more than technical skill — they take a team that can manage a high-visibility, high-traffic downtown corridor while keeping local businesses open and accessible throughout construction.

When a school district leader takes the time to write in with praise, we take notice.

Dr. LaShawn Frost, Executive Director of Student Services for Sarasota County Schools, shared this after the Booker Middle School re-roof project: "My experiences with Swift Construction have consistently been phenomenal, and this project was no exception."

Special shoutout to our own Donald, who led the project as Superintendent! Dr. Frost called out his professionalism, responsiveness and commitment to keeping things on track every step of the way.

Employee spotlight!

Meet Jonathan Swift, Superintendent at Jon F. Swift Construction. Jonathan started working for his dad, Jon, back in 1997, nearly 30 years ago, and has been building Sarasota area landmarks ever since.

Over the years, Jonathan has led the charge on some significant local projects, including the Town of Longboat Key's Fire Station 91 renovation and Bayfront Park on Longboat Key. Right now, he's hard at work on the Snook Haven Park Improvements project, bringing that same experience and dedication to every detail.

Thirty years of building up our community, and he's not slowing down! Thank you for everything you do, Jonathan.
