For today’s Pino’s Pointers, here are 5 things every Florida homeowner should do before a storm:

- Check your emergency supplies: Make sure you have enough water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, medications, and pet supplies to last several days
- Secure outdoor items: Bring in or secure patio furniture, grills, decorations, and other loose items that could become airborne in high winds
- Trim trees and clear gutters: Remove dead branches and debris to help reduce the risk of storm damage and improve drainage during heavy rain
- Review your insurance coverage: Confirm your policy information is current and document your home's condition with photos and videos
- Test your home systems: Check generators, smoke detectors, surge protectors, and HVAC equipment before severe weather arrives
