Happy Work Anniversary to Mike Fusco!

For four years, Mike has brought a lifetime of expertise, passion, and precision to his role as Carpenter at Teakwood.

Mike’s journey in carpentry and construction spans decades—progressing from apprentice to master carpenter with a remarkable eye for detail and infectious enthusiasm. His forte lies in fine finish carpentry and installing detailed architectural millwork, where every cut, fit, and finish is executed to perfection.

When he’s not crafting stunning details, you’ll find Mike enjoying summer, exploring the Adirondacks, and appreciating the beauty of math—all while steering clear of freezing temperatures, mold, and spiders!

We’re so grateful for your expertise, your quick and efficient work ethic, and the incredible craftsmanship you bring to every project. Here’s to many more years of building beautifully together!

Happy Work Anniversary to Jim Quivey!

For four years, Jim has brought a unique blend of craftsmanship, strategic thinking, and dedication to his role as Project Planner at Teakwood.

Jim’s journey to construction has been anything but ordinary—from studying economics to craft brewing, and even working for a Boston-area contracting company co-owned by Tom Silva of PBS’s This Old House. Since moving closer to family in Glens Falls and joining Teakwood, he’s transitioned from Lead Carpenter to Project Planner, where he now helps seamlessly guide projects from planning to production.

When he’s not coordinating schedules or ensuring every detail is just right, you’ll find Jim enjoying the Adirondacks, savoring family time, and treating himself to ice cream—all while steering clear of traffic, a poorly loaded dishwasher, and the phrase “it’s good enough.”

We’re so grateful for your expertise, your passion for precision, and the positive energy you bring to the team. Here’s to many more years of building, planning, and creating together!

What if you could walk through your home before construction begins?

Recently, our team (including our collaborators from Balzer & Tuck Architecture) accompanied clients to WalkThru NY, where they were able to experience their future kitchen, pantry, and primary bath at full scale before a single wall is built.

One of the biggest discussions centered around a seemingly simple decision: whether to increase the refrigerator size from 42 inches to 48 inches. On paper, the difference felt minor. Standing inside the projected kitchen, however, the homeowners could immediately see how that change would affect their bar and countertop space.

Other questions that had lingered for weeks—Would the pantry feel too small? Would the shower layout work as intended?—became much easier to answer when they could stand inside the design and experience it firsthand.

At Teakwood, we believe thoughtful planning leads to better outcomes. Sometimes, seeing a space at full scale can make all the difference.

Happy Work Anniversary to the incredibly talented Susy Easterly! For seven years, Susy has brought artistry, innovation, and masterful skill to her role as Lead Carpenter at Teakwood.

With a background in studio art and a master’s degree in industrial design from Savannah College of Art and Design, Susy’s journey began in high-end furniture and evolved through running her own successful business. Her unique eye for design and dedication to craftsmanship now shine in every custom project she touches.

When she’s not creating one-of-a-kind pieces or leading on-site with precision and vision, you’ll find Susy enjoying cool weather, diving into fantasy football, and hitting the gym—all while steering clear of banking, interviews, and (you guessed it) posing for photos!

We’re so inspired by your creativity, expertise, and the beautiful, functional artistry you bring to our team and clients. Here’s to many more years of designing, building, and inspiring together!

Livin’ on the Ledge began as a modest seasonal cottage, carved into a granite hillside along the eastern shore of Lake George. Today, it’s a thoughtfully reimagined, four-season home shaped as much by stone and landscape as by design.

From extensive ledge excavation to carefully preserved original details, this project reflects what we love most about building in challenging, beautiful places.

Elegant Age-in-Place Renovation

Stylish and Functional Age-in-Place Renovation

This Albany home was thoughtfully renovated to support the homeowners’ desire to age in place while maintaining spaces for family gatherings and entertaining. A new primary suite was added on the first floor, featuring a cleverly concealed laundry room behind a frosted glass barn door for both convenience and privacy.

The design blends traditional and modern elements, with an art deco-inspired backsplash and modern lighting fixtures adding glamour to the kitchen. Warm brushed brass hardware complements vibrant purple accents on the island and upper cabinets, creating a welcoming and sophisticated environment that balances style and functionality.

Celebrating 25 years of exceptional leadership with Dan Decenzo!

Since joining Teakwood in 1999, Dan has been a cornerstone of our team—evolving from an adaptable carpenter to an inspiring Project Manager. His remarkable work ethic, calm demeanor under pressure, and straightforward approach make him a trusted leader on every project.

In the words of President Jim Sasko: “There has never been a time when Dan has not proven his ability to overcome a construction challenge. His ‘get-it-done’ attitude inspires those who have the privilege to work by his side.”

When he’s not skillfully managing multiple projects, Dan enjoys cold adult beverages, sunny days, and well-earned relaxation—all while steering clear of clutter, rainy days, and people who don’t listen.

Dan, your integrity, expertise, and relentless commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on Teakwood. Here’s to 25 years of building legacies—and to many more ahead!

Happy Work Anniversary to our visionary Amy Grumbling!

Though new to the Teakwood family, Amy brings a world of perspective and purpose to her role as Project Designer.

Raised in South Vietnam, Amy believes great design is a universal language—one that dissolves differences, bridges barriers, and fosters meaningful social change. With a multicultural upbringing and a heart for connection, she approaches every project with adaptability, empathy, and a keen eye for detail.

When she’s not designing beautiful, functional spaces, Amy can be found hiking, camping, watching movies with her family, or savoring good food in a peaceful, warm setting—all while steering clear of icy roads, litter, and underripe bananas.

We’re inspired by your creativity, compassion, and the thoughtful energy you bring to our team. Here’s to many more years of designing with heart and purpose!
