The guesses are in... and the answer is Hodgson Hall, home of the Georgia Historical Society.

Located in the heart of Savannah and listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, Hodgson Hall has played a vital role in preserving and sharing Georgia’s history since 1876. JTVS Builders was honored to complete the historic restoration and renovation of this iconic landmark, along with the construction of a new addition designed to expand the Society’s archival storage capabilities. The addition provides extensive climate-controlled and fire-protected space to safely preserve historical documents and artifacts for future generations.

Projects like Hodgson Hall reflect the importance of balancing historic preservation with modern functionality, ensuring Georgia’s history remains protected while supporting the continued growth of one of the state's most significant historical institutions.

Honored to have played a part in the next chapter of one of Savannah’s most historically significant buildings.

JTVS remodeled the downstairs level of the former F.W. Woolworth’s Company Store, transforming the space into what is now Broughton Street Bowl and Brew, while preserving the character and story of this landmark property in the heart of downtown Savannah.

Originally completed in 1954, the International Style Woolworth building stands as an important symbol of Savannah’s Civil Rights history. It was here, during the early 1960s, that efforts to desegregate public accommodations helped shape a pivotal moment in the city’s history. Savannah became the first city in Georgia to desegregate facilities in 1963, months before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law.

Now unanimously approved by the Georgia National Register Review Board for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, this recognition highlights the lasting cultural and historical importance of the building and its place on Broughton Street for generations of Savannahians.

We’re proud to help breathe new life into spaces that continue to tell Savannah’s story.

Let’s throw it back this week to see the transformation from bank to bar & restaurant.

Cotton & Rye is a true Savannah transformation story. Originally built in 1953, this building has evolved over time before becoming the space it is today.

JTVS Builders partnered with Lynch Associates Architects, PC to renovate the interior and create a covered outdoor dining area, helping shape a space that’s equal parts welcoming, stylish, and timeless.
