Naturalist allows one to publish pages that support ones interest in Nature .... Here I provide links to my publications stored at UMass Amherst using a page that provides the URLs to the document files. iNaturalist allows one to edit that file in a relatively simple way as a 'Project' and allows comments by iNat members to be added!

Review of 2018-2022 with addition of 2023 observations on ESD in the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank. The conclusion is that ESD is clumped in several locations each year but one can not yet say that a location harbors a causative condition or agent.

Chat GPT4 imagination seems to have its limits but it does seem to understand my intention in taking a picture of this whale's tail as I was observing it from the bridge of the HB Bigelow in May 2015 ... The HotMod version idealizes the tail with dripping water and even shows the surface view of another whale part that is seen in my foreground but the idealized background ... Interesting but it did not attempt to complete the whale as it did my lobster carapace. Indicates some inconsistency of its available database and 'immagination'?

Using new Nikon Z8 with 46 megapixel images I am able to visualize all the organule size classes in a lobster carapace. This will make it easier to identify the origin of ESD lesions (perhaps). This is my first 46 megapixel image carapace model ...

I am going out on the HB Bigelow as the first Volunteer Scientist to be allowed on the Groundfish Survey since the suspension of the Spring 2000 survey due to COVID19 on leg 4 of the survey. I will be serving on one of the 12-hour daily watches as member of the scientist crew and continuing my collaboration with the Epizootic Shell Disease survey protocol! Glad to be getting back into the saddle! 🙂

Despite the relatively higher level of Epizootic Shell Disease (ESD) in the Gulf of Maine in past few years that seem to be clustered at first look, you rarely get an ESD lobster in the market based on most anecdotal reports from citizens. Most Maine citizens see the following when they 'rarely' eat a lobster out or more frequently have a lobster fest at home. Here see the cherry red traditional look at our recent 'fest'.
