U.S. natural gas prices rise unevenly across sectors

Retail U.S. natural gas prices for every sector have increased so far this year as a result of higher wholesale prices. In our latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, we expect a 37% increase in the annual average natural gas price paid by electric power plants and a 21% increase for the industrial sector customers compared with 2024 averages. We forecast natural gas prices for customers in the commercial and residential sectors will increase by 4% each.
