How can biomechanics technology help researchers evaluate changes in gait following rehabilitation?

In a 2025 study published in Frontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences, researchers in Japan investigated changes in walking mechanics and muscle activity in three children with cerebral palsy following robot-assisted gait training.

Using Noraxon's 3D motion capture and Ultium EMG systems, researchers collected synchronized kinematic and muscle activity data to evaluate changes in lower-limb movement patterns.

Following training, all three participants demonstrated measurable changes in joint angles and muscle activity, highlighting the role of integrated biomechanics measurements in evaluating rehabilitation outcomes.

is using EMG biofeedback together with IMU motion capture to work on shoulder and neck muscle activity. The EMG shows how hard the muscles are working in real time, and the motion sensors show how the body is moving at that same moment.

How does real-time EMG biofeedback translate to patient care? Studholme Chiropractic shares how they use it to help patients better understand muscle recruitment and movement patterns.
