Today marks the 140th day of Lewis’ 140th year as a Pacific Northwest builder! Teams across Seattle, Portland, Eugene and beyond showed up in their favorite Lewis gear to celebrate a legacy built over generations. From the vintage windbreakers to the modern quarter zips, Lewis swag was on full display!

Since 1886, Lewis employees have helped shape communities through craftsmanship, innovation and pride of ownership. As an employee-owned company, that legacy belongs to every Lewis employee.

Lewis Blue Day is a celebration of the people, relationships and shared values that have carried Lewis through 140 years — and the next 140 to come.

Thank you to every employee who brought their Lewis pride to work today.

Happy !

This week, Lewis is shining a light on the incredible commitment of our safety personnel and builders to achieving a zero-incident work environment.

Across our jobsites, teams are coming together for daily toolbox talks, stretch-and-flex sessions, fall protection demonstrations, glove and eye protection training, hydration education, equipment inspections and team celebrations that recognize safe work done right. From morning briefings to hands-on demonstrations and shared meals, every event reinforces a simple belief: everyone should go home safe. Every day.

We are proud to stand with our people, trade partners and clients in advancing a culture built on accountability, trust and safety.

We recently welcomed ACE Mentor Program of America students to our AEG Presents Portland Music Venue project, giving the next generation of builders an up-close look at construction in action.

Our project team hosted the group with an overview of the build, shared progress photos and led a guided tour of the jobsite. Visiting after crews wrapped for the day allowed students to see construction in progress safely and better understand the role contractors play in bringing complex projects to life.

Construction at the 65,000-square-foot venue — located at the former Lloyd Center Nordstrom site — is moving full steam ahead. With structural steel in place, crews are finalizing decking over the stadia and the main hall roof. The first section of the back-of-house roof was poured this week.

Once complete in early 2027, the venue will host up to 4,250 guests and feature a main stage, mezzanine seating, bars and support spaces.

We’re proud to support ACE Mentoring and invest in the future of the construction industry while delivering a landmark entertainment destination for Portland.

3…2…1…🪏! On a bright and sunny Pacific Northwest spring day last week, we helped break ground on Lake Washington School District's Emerson campus project.

This progressive design-build project involves replacing a facility which currently provides programming spaces for Emerson High School, Emerson K-12 and Northstar Middle School.

We’ll be building a new two-story, 50,000-square-foot facility — designed by Mithun — on the existing playfield. Afterward, the existing building will be demolished to make way for a new outdoor play space. Northstar Middle School and the gym will remain in their current locations on campus.

Funded by LWSD’s 2022 Building Excellence Capital Construction levy, the project will also enhance the opportunity and long-term viability of infant daycare services and set the stage for new career and technical education programs.

We’re proud to partner with LWSD to deliver a modern learning environment that better supports students, educators, staff and the community.

The new Emerson campus will welcome students in fall 2027.

Hats off to our Lewis volunteers who showed up for a shift at the SMART Reading facility in Northeast Portland. Our team cleaned and restored dozens of children’s books for distribution to young readers across the region.

The effort supports Smart Reading’s mission to spark joy and opportunity through the magic of a shared book and reflects Lewis’ commitment to empowering our people to improve our communities.

Steel is officially going vertical at our Portland Music Venue jobsite!

After several months of below-grade work installing micropiles, foundations and shear walls, our team began above-ground steel er****on last week at the future home of Portland’s newest live music venue. A 300-ton crane is now on site, and crews are installing structural steel over the next few months.

Backed by Monqui Presents and AEG Presents, the 65,000-square-foot venue, located at the former Lloyd Center Nordstrom site in Portland, will host up to 4,250 guests and feature a main stage, mezzanine seating, bars and support spaces.

Keep up the good work, team!

This Women in Construction Week, we're celebrating the people helping shape the future of our industry, including Assistant Project Manager Melanie Stephenson.

Melanie's path into construction began in structural engineering, but it didn't take long for her to realize she wanted something more collaborative, dynamic and hands-on. At Lewis, she found exactly that: a career built on teamwork, problem-solving and the challenge of turning complex ideas into real-world solutions.

Her experience reflects the progress happening across the industry. As more women step into roles at every level of construction, representation continues to reshape expectations and open doors for future generations.

Join us in celebrating Melanie and all the women building our communities and our industry forward.

We were honored to host the Oregon Tradeswomenon Monday of Women in Construction Week at our AEG Presents Portland Music Venue project.

With sunny skies and active structural steel er****on, participants experienced a live jobsite with a front-row view of the transformation underway at the Lloyd Center in Northeast Portland. Opportunities like this matter. They provide hands-on exposure, real conversations with project teams and a closer look at what a career in construction can offer. The energy, curiosity and drive this group brought to the site were unmistakable.

The pipeline of skilled, motivated talent emerging from the Oregon Tradeswomen continues to grow, and it is inspiring to witness. We are grateful for the organization’s leadership in expanding access to family-wage careers and strengthening our industry for the future.

Thank you for the important work you do, and happy Women in Construction Week.
