Our project, the Vashon Maury Community Food Bank with Graham Baba Architects was recently featured in the DJC. Located in downtown Vashon, the project includes a new 3,700-square-foot food distribution building and a renovated 3,500-square-foot building for offices and support services. Together, the two buildings create a welcoming, grocery-style shopping experience with access to essential resources. SSF was pleased to provide structural engineering services for this meaningful project. Read the full article at the link in our bio.

SSF teamed with Theorem Architecture Group (TAG) and Lydig Construction to deliver a new 50,000-square-foot administrative building for the dental school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima Valley. SSF provided structural engineering services for the project.

The two-story, steel-framed building over concrete-filled metal deck includes offices, conference rooms, lounge areas, large classrooms, an open atrium, and a cantilevered second floor. The team worked together through the design-build process.

Founded in 2005, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences is a nonprofit university offering multiple health sciences programs on a growing campus that brings together students and faculty from several disciplines.

Major progress is being made at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest with MAPD! Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest is the only home for chimpanzees in Washington State and is located on 113 acres of farm and forested land in the Cascade Mountains near Roslyn. SSF has supported facility improvements that advance the sanctuary’s long-term operations, including an administrative support building with staff offices, meeting areas, storage, enrichment preparation space, and a more welcoming entrance for visitors and donors.

SSF’s project with Heliotrope Architects, the new Center for Chamber Music for Seattle Chamber Music Society, was recently featured in The Seattle Times.

Located in the renovated U.S. Bank Center at Sixth Avenue and Union Street, the new venue will be Seattle’s first permanent space designed exclusively for chamber music. Its 271-seat concert hall is designed to create an intimate experience, with every audience member seated within 40 feet of the performers.

The center will also include five rehearsal spaces, a hospitality suite for visiting artists, an extensive chamber music library, a dedicated streaming and playback room, and offices for Seattle Chamber Music Society.

Construction is scheduled to begin in winter 2026, with an opening planned for early 2028.

For 15 years, SSF has proudly supported Food Lifeline’s Food Frenzy.

The need continues to grow. Food bank visits across Food Lifeline’s network increased by more than 5 million last year, and summer can be especially difficult for families as many children lose access to free school meals.

Please join us in supporting Food Frenzy and helping get nutritious food to the communities that need it most.

We are pleased to announce the promotions of Karl Rosman, PE, and Francesca Renouard, PE/SE, to Principal!

Rosman joined SSF’s Seattle office in 2005. A Montana State University graduate and former carpenter, he brings practical construction insight to his work. During more than two decades with SSF, Rosman has contributed to 1,200+ projects, including 800 new and renovated residences. His experience spans commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, community, and religious projects. Recent projects include the new Social Retail Shops at Suncadia Lodge in Cle Elum, new and renovated structures in the Pacific Northwest and Western Montana, and an extensive renovation to his own residence in Missoula. He is licensed in Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

Renouard joined SSF full-time in 2014 after completing two SSF summer internships and earning her master’s degree from UC Berkeley. Her work focuses on renovation, historic preservation, and adaptive reuse, with projects including the Metropole Building, West Canal Yards, and multiple seismic retrofits for The Seattle Public Library. In 2023, Building Design+Construction named Renouard to its 40 Under 40 class.

Congratulations to Karl and Francesca on their well-deserved promotions. To learn more about them, visit our website.
