Extremely busy day today for R&M Electrical Services!
We started the morning with a 4:00 AM emergency service call at one of our FedEx buildings after a van line went down, causing a delay in package sorting. Our team arrived quickly, diagnosed the issue, and got packages moving again. The issue was traced back to a loose factory termination on a stop button for a new conveyor line.
Next, we received a call from a residential customer experiencing power loss on one phase along with flickering lights. Upon arrival, we found a severe fault inside a tap box. This is a great reminder that “cheap” does not always mean best. The customer stated a similar issue had happened about a year ago and had been repaired by another electrician, but unfortunately, it was not corrected properly.
We also responded to a customer whose hot tub quit working during physical therapy use. They stated there was no power getting to the control board. After troubleshooting, we found a faulty GFCI cord cap that appeared not to be tripped, but internally was not allowing full voltage through. We have ordered the replacement cord cap and will return to complete the repair once it arrives.
Later, we received an urgent call from Captain D’s regarding limited power at one of their locations. We arrived on site, assessed the issue, and determined the problem was on the utility side. We contacted Duke Energy, had them on site within the hour, and stayed with them while they replaced the transformer. Once power was restored, we brought the store back online and verified proper power and operation of all systems.
