In celebration of Engineers Week, we are proud to recognize Segment 2 Field Engineer Hugo Soto as our Safety Supporter. Hugo earned this title by completing the most safety inspections in January.

Congratulations to Carlos Elias, Field Engineer in Segment 2A, for winning this month’s Photo Friday contest.

Carlos captured an incredible shot of the Dutch John Cut Bridge in Kings County, highlighting the scale and progress of a structure that will measure 669 feet long and 43 feet wide once complete.

This photo showcases the impressive scale of the structure and the steady progress taking shape along the river.

Today’s photo highlights the teamwork that keeps our projects moving forward — a coordinated effort from every role in the field and the office.

From our carpenters and laborers building the structure, to superintendents managing day‑to‑day operations, to engineers and project managers planning the work, each person plays a critical part in delivering safe, high‑quality construction. Our safety professionals are there every step of the way, supporting crews, reinforcing expectations, and helping ensure everyone goes home safe. And with guidance from our Project Director overseeing all operations, teams stay aligned, supported, and equipped to overcome challenges together.

Different responsibilities, one shared mission: working together to build something that lasts.

Kings River continues to hit major milestones. Recently, crews completed Phase A and Phase B deck pours, placing nearly 690 cubic yards of concrete across the structure. The deck was poured using a vibra screed to achieve the required 2 percent slope through the center section, a critical step in preparing the bridge for what’s next. With the deck now complete, work is moving into installation of parapet and derailment walls, marking another key step forward on the project.
