🐂🔧 Another Custom Modification Completed! 🔧🐂

Happy Sunday, everyone! We hope you all had a great weekend!

We wrapped up another project at the end of the week for a customer looking to improve the functionality of his cattle squeeze chute rear door.

The goal was to rotate the butt pan 180° and widen it to provide a bigger area of contact for the cattle’s rear end. This gives the operator a smoother operation to work with and makes handling cattle of various sizes easier and more efficient.

The photos show the process from start to finish — cutting apart the original setup, widening the pan, adding new internal stiffeners for additional strength and support, fitting everything back together, and finally welding it all back up.

Once the modifications were complete, the rear door was ready to get back to work! 💪

We enjoy taking on projects like this and finding ways to modify and improve equipment to better fit our customers’ needs.

🚜 Another successful project completed by DB Weld & Fab! 🔧

This hopper came into DB Weld & Fab in need of a brand-new fifth wheel plate.

Thanks to the Rust Belt climate we call home, along with years of exposure to the elements, the factory-installed fifth wheel plate had rusted extensively. Over time, the corrosion caused the plate to lose structural support, resulting in buckling and making replacement the safest and most reliable solution.

When designing the new setup, durability was the top priority. We increased the material thickness to provide greater strength and improve long-term resistance to the elements. From the new fifth wheel plate itself to the supporting gussets, we also incorporated additional structural supports beyond the original factory design to maximize strength, stability, and overall integrity.

This was a fun project to take on, and while quality repairs and fabrication require an investment in time and materials, the peace of mind that comes from knowing your equipment is ready to perform when you need it most is well worth it.

A recent project completed by DB Weld & Fab! 💪⚙️

One of our metal recycling yard customers had a shaker table that was in rough shape. It was cracked throughout the entire bed and on the shaker arms themselves. Since this shaker table is a critical part of their daily operation, it was a top priority to complete a thorough repair while minimizing downtime to get them back up and running as quickly as possible.

Using the flux-core welding process allowed us to complete the repairs much faster while providing excellent pe*******on and high tensile strength. The result is a stronger, longer-lasting repair with minimal interruption to our customer’s operation.

On the outfeed side of the table, the old chute had finally worn out after years of heavy use. We removed the damaged chute and fabricated a new one using 1/2-inch Hardox plate, ensuring another durable, long-lasting repair built to handle the demands of the job.

🌾 Wheat harvest is just around the corner, and corn harvest won’t be far behind! 🌽

Now is the perfect time to get your equipment repaired so you can start the season without any unexpected breakdowns.

Today’s project was repairing cracks in an aluminum hopper bottom to make sure it’s ready to go when harvest starts. Come go-time, it’s all gas and no brakes!

Repairing aluminum is all about proper preparation and cleanliness. To achieve strong, clean welds, the bare metal must be thoroughly cleaned. We gouge out the cracks before welding them shut to ensure full pe*******on for a stronger repair. Once the cracks are filled, we add a patch over the repaired area to create an even stronger, longer-lasting fix.

One of the best kinds of days is when you get to jump back in the truck as clean as when you showed up!

Today, DB Weld & Fab had the pleasure of completing several stainless steel modifications for a local customer.

Today’s projects included:
✔️ Reworking a sink to fit flush along the wall and eliminate interference with the doorway.
✔️ Shortening the legs on a stainless tub and adding a flat plate to the side, creating a smooth transition to prevent products from catching on the edge.
✔️ Installing a guard on the trolley rail to help protect it from future wear and tear.

A recent project completed on a Liebherr crane grapple for a metal recycling customer. These photos show the repair process from start to finish.

Removing old repair welds back to clean, bare metal is a critical first step. This ensures complete crack removal and provides a solid foundation for stronger, longer-lasting welds.
On jobs like this, 90% of the work is preparation and 10% is the actual welding.

As the owner/operator, I truly enjoy this line of work because of the sheer size, power, and impressive capabilities of the equipment we get to work on every day. Being able to see and be a part of how these machines operate up close is an incredible experience.

DB Weld&Fab recently had the opportunity to fabricate six custom transportation tree pod stands for a new landscaping customer.

These stands were specifically designed to fit the customer’s spade dimensions and are built to safely hold root balls with:

✔️ Maximum top width of 44”
✔️ Maximum bottom width of 22”
✔️ Maximum depth of 32”

Each stand is engineered to maintain enough clearance for the spade to easily remove and re-transplant the tree without issue.
