We had an excellent time at the 2026 National SkillsUSA Conference in Atlanta!
Students Gabriel Hee and Tyler McGinnis represented Tennessee in Additive Manufacturing. Participants were given a concept idea and were required to design, 3d print, and test a functioning prototype. They were then given a comprehensive written exam, and judged on their presentation. Gabriel and Tyler were accompanied by their CAD Instructor, John Long.
Taft Freeman represented Tennessee in CNC Programming. Contestants were required to program both a CNC Mill and a CNC Lathe. Contestants were then given a theory exam and judged on their mock interviews.
Students Noah Zarraga, Luke Jett, and Ethan Stewart competed in Automated Manufacturing Technology. These competitors had to model, program and CNC machine a three-part assembly.
Taft, Noah, Luke, and Ethan were awarded $1,000 each by the Gene Haas Foundation for representing their state in CNC Machining. These students were accompanied by their Machine Tool Technology Instructor, Kenny Keith.
TCAT Shelbyville did not bring home any medals this time. However, Tennessee Post Secondary students earned 63 national medals (23 Gold, 23 Silver, and 17 Bronze) the most of any state, 68 Skill Point Certificates, and achieved 102 Top 10 finishes nationwide.
TACT Shelbyville is beyond proud of these students and their tremendous accomplishments!
