This October, we’re proud to celebrate two major anniversaries on the DM Construction crew: 9 years and 8 years.

In masonry, years like these represent a lot of hard work. These two have helped build our projects, supported the people beside them, and set an example for those learning the trade. Their contributions are part of what DM Construction is today.

Our capabilities extend beyond traditional masonry installation.

At Boulder Western, we’re partnering with Saunders Construction on a natural stone façade incorporating two specialized support systems: Cascadia with vertical girts and Acme Fast Track.

Typically installed by metal panel contractors, these systems fall outside a traditional masonry scope. Our team has the technical expertise and craftsmanship to execute both—along with the natural stone they support.

The detail is in the depth.

At 299 Milwaukee, three different bricks, two masonry systems, and multiple depths are bringing a highly dimensional design to life.

Across the building, two colors of full-depth modular brick and a thin brick application create distinctly different sections of the exterior. But take a closer look and the real complexity begins to show.

Around the windows, the masonry moves in and out to create layers of depth. The depth is created by multple assemblies consisting of flashing, waterproofing, precast and structural support all have to be carefully coordinated and sequenced.

Working alongside The Beck Group our team is executing those details one condition at a time—bringing craftsmanship, technical knowledge and precision together in the field.

One elevation. Three eras.

The Phipps Auditorium portion of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science was constructed in 1938–1939 with a monumental staircase and carefully detailed masonry façade.

As part of the new Sturm Family Wing renovation, the canopy was removed—and the work of rebuilding the historic entrance began.

With no specified replacement brick, DM Construction sourced numerous samples and constructed mockups to establish the closest possible match. Damaged terra-cotta elements were carefully removed so their profiles, curvature and ornamental details could be replicated.

Custom precast components were then installed to align precisely with the existing pediments, ledges and architectural features.

Thank you to the GC, manufacturers, fabricators and suppliers who supported this work: Associates Inc.; Haselden Construction, General Shale; National Waterproofing Supply, LLC. ; Reliance Precast; Rio Grande Co.; White Cap, including ExoAir® 230 fluid-applied waterproofing and Dymonic® 100 sealant.

Each month, President Tyler Vander Vegt leads our company-wide Quality Meeting, bringing together every department to discuss project updates, forecasts, operational priorities, and opportunities for improvement.

These meetings create transparency, encourage collaboration, and ensure every team member understands how their work contributes to the success of our projects and our clients. By keeping communication open and expectations clear, we’re able to make better decisions and continue raising the standard.

Twenty-five years later, September 11 continues to remind us of the strength found in standing together.

Today, we remember the lives taken far too soon, the families who have carried those losses for 25 years, and the courageous first responders and everyday Americans who ran toward danger to help others—many making the ultimate sacrifice.

In the face of unimaginable loss, our country showed us what courage, selflessness, compassion, and service to one another truly look like.

That spirit still matters. It lives in how we care for one another, how we serve our communities, and how we come together when it matters most.

Today, we honor their lives, their courage, and the legacy they left behind.

Tomorrow starts today.

Our entire DM Construction management team is out building 16 CMU stations to hold the brick students will be laying tomorrow.

Before the competition begins, more than 90 students from programs across our community will step up to these stations, pick up a trowel, and get the opportunity to lay brick alongside members of our team.

90+ students.
One incredible opportunity to introduce the next generation to the masonry trade.

Today’s water-managed EIFS systems deserve a second look.

Advancements in engineering, manufacturer requirements, building codes, and installation standards have transformed modern water-managed EIFS into a high-performing exterior cladding system designed for long-term durability, moisture management, and energy efficiency.

But no engineered system performs as intended without the right materials and proper installation.

At DM Construction, our craftsmen receive manufacturer training and certification for the EIFS systems we install. Proper installation requires understanding how every component works together—from WRBs and flashing to EPS, reinforcing mesh, base coat, and finish.

Every layer matters.
