Who wants this ?

๐ŸŒ™ A cooler night is ahead for Long Island. Most areas should fall into the low to mid 50s overnight, with some of the normally colder interior locations dropping even lower.
The Pine Barrens and other sheltered spots across central and eastern Long Island could potentially reach the mid to upper 40s by early Monday morning, especially where winds become light and skies remain clear.
Immediate coastal areas should stay milder, generally in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
A nice little taste of early fall by sunrise. ๐Ÿ‚

September is still very much a summer-like month here on Long Island, and definitely still beach weather at times. Sure, we start getting some cooler days and especially cooler nights as we move deeper into the month, but that doesnโ€™t mean summer weather suddenly disappears after Labor Day.
We can still get plenty of warm, sunny days throughout September, and the ocean is still relatively warm from the summer. In fact, in my opinion, September and October can bring some of the most beautiful weather of the entire year on Long Island. Lower humidity, comfortable temperatures, cooler nights, beautiful sunsets and plenty of days where itโ€™s still warm enough to get outside and enjoy the beach.
Fall may be approaching, but donโ€™t put away the shorts and beach gear just yet. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‚

๐ŸŒ… Beautiful sunset at Smith Point Beach tonight ๐ŸŒ…
SMITH POINT BEACH, NY โ€” Saturday, September 5, 2026: A beautiful sunset lit up the sky over Smith Point Beach and the Fire Island National Seashore, near the Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness Visitor Center.
In the video, thick dark clouds stretch across the sky while brilliant shades of orange, gold and yellow glow along the horizon over the water. The contrast between the darker clouds and the bright sunset made for a pretty dramatic scene looking out across the bay and Fire Island.
A really beautiful ending to the day here on Long Island.
