A view from above. While ground application of nitrogen may seem cost effective, it can be detrimental to your crops if not done properly. At Nor-Wes, we take the necessary steps to ensure our equipment is properly calibrated. The season has begun in New Mexico as we battle alfalfa weevils attacking alfalfa fields in Southern New Mexico.�� “Alfalfa weevil larvae chew and skeletonize leaves. Large larval populations may defoliate entire plants, giving the field a grayish cast. Damage normally only occurs to the first harvest but both larvae and adults may damage regrowth when populations are high, resulting in both yield and stand loss.”�-Alfalfa Management Guide�www.agronomy.org
