The Fuel Truck Driver position is an important role in the daily work of Earnest Contracting. They are responsible daily for replenishing all fuel, oil, grease, etc. for all equipment and vehicles to assure they are ready to be used. Additionally, the Fuel Truck Driver is responsible daily for logging the fluid levels, hours used, mileage, and general condition of the equipment/vehicles. They are the first line of defense for maintaining our fleet.
To ensure success as a Fuel Truck Driver, you should be a responsible, organized, and reliable person. Keeping to a schedule and being flexible are both needed. The operators and drivers rely on you to keep them running.
Fuel Truck Driver Responsibilities:
• Lead by example, promote, and portray company values, always look out for your safety and the safety of others, conduct business with integrity, strive for excellence in all aspects of the job, motivated to succeed and improve skills, and hold self and others accountable for actions.
• General knowledge of core equipment (one or more), which includes, but not limited to compactors, excavators, articulated trucks, loaders, backhoe, etc.
• Access and relay any unusual issues or activity from equipment.
• Perform a daily equipment walk-around inspection, handle preventive maintenance (grease, check fluids, tires, cleaning), and document all activity in a daily equipment log.
• Perform job responsibilities safely in a busy, sometimes, stressful environment while operating and working under varied weather conditions around trucks, equipment, and personnel.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Understand the value of teamwork and communication with others necessary to operate onsite construction activities (grading and excavating) efficiently.
Fuel Truck Driver Experience/Education Requirements:
• A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
• Capacity to provide and follow direction.
• Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
• General mechanical knowledge of diesel engines.
• Physical requirements:
o Manually lift/carry 50-100 lbs.
o Stand, walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform all required tasks during all weather conditions (hot/cold), and to work extended hours, as needed.
