As we recognize National Preparedness Month, take a few minutes this week to build or refresh your emergency kit. Include essentials like bottled water, nonperishable food, flashlights, extra batteries, a first-aid kit, medications, phone chargers and important documents.

🌟 BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: DIRECTOR JOHN SHAVER 🌟

Deep roots in the community. Decades of electric industry experience. A commitment to keeping members informed. 💚

Now serving his fourth year on the SSVEC Board, Director John Shaver represents District 1, including Pearce, Elfrida, McNeal, and surrounding rural communities. 🌾 His previous career with Arizona Electric Power Cooperative included experience in power generation, transmission operations, energy trading, and regulatory compliance—giving him valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges facing electric cooperatives today. ⚡

A lifelong area resident, Director Shaver believes strongly in being accessible to members. This year, communication and outreach are among his top priorities as the energy industry continues to evolve.

His commitment to community extends well beyond the Board. He serves as president of the Rex Allen Arizona Cowboy Museum, has supported Cochise County 4-H and other rural community efforts, and enjoys raising cattle on his Sunizona ranch. 🤠 Most importantly, he’s a proud grandpa!
