Next week, Keystone Symposia is on two continents at once.

Hannover, Germany 🇩🇪 — Viral Pathogenesis & Immunity is sold out. But the livestream is open. Virologists and immunologists from around the world, converging at Herrenhausen Palace.

Chicago, IL 🇺🇸 — our CEO takes the stage with at to launch a new era of partnership between basic science and clinical research.

Two cities. Two communities. One belief: science moves faster together.

✨ Fellow Spotlight: Dr. Thu (Autumn) Doan

We are proud to feature Keystone Symposia Fellow Dr. Thu (Autumn) Doan, PhD — Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Rachel Friedman's lab at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Dr. Doan's research explores how immune cells within pancreatic islets drive type 1 diabetes (T1D) progression. Specifically, she investigates the interactions between autoreactive T cells and distinct myeloid cell populations — immune cells that help coordinate local responses in the pancreas. Her goal: uncover new therapeutic strategies for preventing or slowing T1D.

Autumn's work was recognized with an American Diabetes Association Postdoctoral Fellowship and an invitation to deliver a short talk at our Myeloid Cells: Functional Heterogeneity with Therapeutic Promise meeting in February 2026.

Beyond the lab, Autumn is a dedicated community builder. She currently serves as President of the CU Anschutz Postdoctoral Association, advocates for postdoctoral researchers campus-wide, and mentors graduate students through a Women in STEM Mentoring Program. Mentorship has shaped her own journey — and she is paying that forward.

"The mentors who guided me provided not only academic advice but also the confidence to pursue opportunities that once felt out of reach."

Cancer. Diabetes. Cardiovascular disease.

Three of the most pressing health crises of our time—and hormones are implicated in all of them.

Endocrine science sits at the center of 21st century public health. Yet the scientists studying these diseases in the lab and the clinicians treating them at the bedside have too often operated in separate worlds.

That gap slows discovery.
Patients pay the price.

Closing it requires deliberate spaces where basic scientists and clinicians think together, challenge each other, and move findings from bench to bedside, and back again.

That's what Keystone Symposia and the Endocrine Society are building.

Three co-created conferences.
One shared vision: a community that accelerates discovery instead of waiting for it.

At ENDO2026 in two weeks, our joint panel "Keystone Symposia + Endocrine Society: How Partnerships Across the Life Sciences Benefit Researchers" will discuss what this partnership looks like in practice.

The panel will explore the "Three Whys":
▪️Why this partnership—what each organization brings that neither could alone
▪️Why now—why the bench-to-bedside gap is more costly than ever
▪️Why these conference topics—Cancer, Diabetes, and Cardiometabolism—are ripe for translational breakthroughs
