Congratulation Mike Reese. They have selected the Best of the Best. Wishing you all the best in the new adventure.

The Village of Simpson will most definitely miss your presence as our State Senator.

Again, Congratulations.

BREAKING NEWS: Senator Mike Reese Named Ninth President of McNeese State University

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors has named Senator Mike Reese as the ninth president of McNeese State University, selecting a longtime public servant, business executive and regional leader to guide the institution into its next chapter.
Senator Reese brings more than three decades of leadership experience across government, business, economic development, finance, logistics and higher education policy.

As a Louisiana State Senator, he has held key leadership roles in statewide governance and has been widely recognized for advancing fiscal policy, economic competitiveness, workforce alignment and regional development initiatives.

“Senator Reese has spent his career working at the intersection of public service, business, workforce and economic development,” said Mr. Mark Romero, Chair of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. “That perspective will be valuable for McNeese as the University continues to align its academic mission with the needs and opportunities of Southwest Louisiana. His experience in higher education policy and governance, combined with his long-standing commitment to Louisiana’s future, positions him well to lead McNeese at this important moment.”

Alongside his public service, Senator Reese is Managing Partner and CEO of the Reese Companies, a diversified group operating in transportation, logistics, aviation and commercial real estate. His previous service on the Louisiana Board of Regents and the Louisiana Student Financial Assistance Commission provides him with substantial experience in higher education policy, funding, and governance.

“McNeese is deeply connected to the people and progress of Southwest Louisiana,” said Dr. Rick Gallot, President and CEO of the University of Louisiana System. “Senator Reese’s experience in public service, business, and economic development aligns with the University’s opportunity to serve as a driver of talent, innovation and regional growth. McNeese plays an essential role in preparing graduates, supporting employers and strengthening communities, and this leadership transition is an important moment for the campus and the region.”

Details regarding the contract and start date will be determined in consultation with UL System President and CEO Dr. Rick Gallot and Board leadership.
