Summit Atelier Summit Atelier - sculpted furntiure Company History
Summit Atelier was founded in 2005 by Brewse Monier - Williams in Brooklyn, New York.

After much success in the greater New York City market, Brewse moved the company up to Litchfield County Connecticut in order to expand the business up the Northeast Coast and, at the same time, have greater access to sourcing some of the best quality reclaimed wood available. The leading factors in Summit Atelier’s work ethic is to source the finest reclaimed materials, provide professional handc

rafted workmanship and create one-of-a-kind elegance in design. Summit Atelier has developed two prominent styles of reclaimed floors that have revolutionized high-design Commercial and Residential interiors over the past ten years: Reclaimed Parquet Pattern and Wide Plank. First we introduced our Reclaimed Parquet Pattern flooring and furniture created by using the finest American reclaimed materials. Brewse Monier-Wiliams (founder), “We are proud to be at the forefront of this aesthetic for interior around the world. Parquet is a timeless art form.”

Second, in the past 18 months, Summit Atelier has created a complete process to source, craft and install authentic reclaimed Wide Plank floors that create an original 18th century American look and feel. Our newest journey began 24 months ago based on a Japanese tradition that started centuries earlier - the fine art of “Shou-sugi-ban,” (burnt wood.) Again, at the forefront of a movement of unique surfaces, Summit Atelier is creating finest charred wood solutions. With much more in development the future is exciting. We look forward to hearing from you and having you join us in creating your ideal design environment.

How do great stories begin? With small steps or one giant leap?
In a quiet space on a snowy night, we’ve taken the next step in Crafting a Brotherhood around Faith & Ci**rs. Sampling has begun with a very special young new blender in Nicaragua.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summit Atelier Announces Curatorship of the Piper & Shinichi Archives

[Hartford, Connecticut] — [August 8th, 2024] — Summit Atelier is pleased to announce that founder Brewse Monier-Williams has been entrusted with the curatorship of the Piper & Shinichi archives, a historically significant collection that represents a remarkable convergence of artistic spirits within the studio furniture movement.

Miyazaki Shinichi, active from the late 1960s until 2010, and Kurt Piper, whose contributions span from the early 1980s to the present day, each brought a unique vision that transcended mere woodworking. Their creations challenge traditional perceptions of furniture as both art and function, standing as enduring testaments to the power of organic form and masterful craftsmanship.

Monier-Williams, deeply reverent and admiring of the studio furniture community, is honored to curate this collection. “For younger artists and furniture craftsmen, experiencing the work of Miyazaki and Piper offers invaluable lessons in pushing creative boundaries while honoring the profound connection between form and function,” says Monier-Williams.

As part of this endeavor, Summit Atelier is planning a fundraising effort to support exhitibtions and a comprehensive cataloging of the Piper & Shinichi archives. “This fundraising initiative is essential to preserve and share the legacy of these two pioneering artists, ensuring their work continues to inspire future generations,” Monier-Williams adds. In addition to public support, we are actively seeking corporate sponsors to partner with us in this significant cultural preservation project.

More information and updates on this project will be released via our Instagram page, , where we will also be sharing details of the fundraising campaign.

Summit Atelier invites the art world to join in this celebration as we endeavor to bring these exquisite works to museums and galleries around the globe.
