⚡ FROM HOUSE MOVE TO NEW SERVICE UPGRADE ⚡

This project was a little different than most.

The homeowner relocated an entire house from another town and set it on a brand-new foundation. Once the move was complete, we were brought in to install a new electrical service, replace the outdated panel, and reconnect every circuit throughout the home.

Projects like this require a lot of planning and organization. Every circuit has to be identified, traced, reconnected correctly, and tested to make sure the home is safe and ready for inspection.

Scope of work included:

✔ New overhead service entrance
✔ New meter and emergency disconnect
✔ New electrical panel installation
✔ Reconnection of all existing branch circuits
✔ Circuit identification and organization
✔ Code-compliant installation ready for inspection

One of the things I enjoy most about this trade is helping bring projects back to life. It’s rewarding to see an older home get a fresh start with a safe and reliable electrical system.

I even had a little help from my nephew painting the panel backboard. It’s always great to share the trade with the next generation.

My Story

My name is Adam Kellen, owner of AK Electric Co.

I grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and began my electrical apprenticeship in 2010 at 23 years old. When I first entered the trade, I wasn’t the most naturally talented apprentice. What I lacked in experience, I made up for with determination. I committed myself to learning the trade, took school seriously, graduated at the top of my apprenticeship class, and spent years developing my skills through hard work and persistence.

Over the years, I worked for union contractors on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Those experiences helped me develop a strong technical foundation and a reputation for quality workmanship. I take pride in thoughtful electrical layouts, clean conduit installations, and designing systems that are built to perform reliably for years to come.

I started AK Electric Co. because I wanted to build something of my own and provide customers with the level of service and craftsmanship I believe they deserve. My goal has always been to deliver more value, better communication, and higher-quality work than customers often expect from a contractor.

As a father of three, I understand the importance of trust, reliability, and doing what you say you’re going to do. Those same values guide how I run my business every day.

I believe in building things right the first time. I take pride in my work, pay attention to the details, and stand behind every project I complete. My goal isn’t just to finish a job—it’s to become the electrician customers call for years to come and confidently recommend to their family and friends.
