Northwest Tank continues to grow! We are seeking an energetic, mechanically minded, problem-solving individual to start immediately. This position offers a rare opportunity to enter the stable, long-term employment fuel industry. Ambitious, hard-working technicians have the opportunity for growth into the Compliance division.
Starting salary range: $24-26+ per hour to start, plus a SIGNING BONUS of $2000 to qualified new hires.
The Meter Calibration Technician will perform all non-electrical tasks necessary to conduct retail gasoline meter calibration on regulated fueling systems at area gas stations, including but not limited to driving a company vehicle, sending and receiving work schedules & reports electronically, wearing appropriate PPE, obtaining regulatory licensing including manufacturer certifications, attending professional equipment training, properly maintaining company equipment and vehicle, and attending required meetings and teleconferences.
Technician may also perform tasks including: Dispenser repairs including hanging hardware and nozzle repair/replacement, fuel filter changes, replacement of caps, adapters, and gaskets, pumping of fluid from compartments, and investigation of alarms.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 18 years of age, High School diploma or GED, with trade, college or other certification or degree preferred. Knowledge of computers & smart phones with apps. Clean driving record. Drug screening is part of hiring process and required by DOT for fleet vehicle operators.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Carry tools and test equipment up to 50 lbs. Step up & down, kneel, squat or crouch while working on equipment at grade. Access and maneuver inside small/confined spaces. Handling, grasping of hand tools or squeezing of nozzles. Occasionally pull and slide manway lids up to 150 lbs. Push a wheeled fuel-cart up to 250 lbs. Push or pull pipe wrenches up to 36" long.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Outdoors in all weather conditions. Work hours typically occur between 5am- 3pm, Monday-Friday, with some weekends and overnights. After training, the technician will be assigned a work vehicle. If issued a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), a CDL and periodic DOT drug screening and physical exams are required (paid for by the company).
TRAINING: Company provides Safety training & on-the-job training of all position duties. All certifications, testing and training are paid for by the company.
LOCATION/TRAVEL: Primarily Puget Sound Area. Locations vary daily throughout King, Pierce, Snohomish, Skagit & Thurston counties. The ideal home base for the technician is central Puget Sound (Everett to Kent), within 15 minutes of I-5. Out-of-area travel to Eastern WA, Oregon, and Idaho averages 5 to up to 10 days each month.
