Standard equipment couldn't solve this manufacturing challenge.

A pressure vessel manufacturer needed to remove 4-inch-thick lifting lugs after assembly without damaging the vessel or introducing heat into the surrounding material. The vessels were too large to relocate, and the existing torch-cutting process created unnecessary cleanup, quality concerns, and production variability.

The objective wasn't simply to remove the lug. It was to create a safer, more repeatable manufacturing process.

Tri Tool engineered a purpose-built portable horizontal milling station that attached directly to the lifting lug, allowing operators to perform a precise mechanical slotting operation without contacting the vessel itself.

The result was more than a cleaner cut:

• Eliminated thermal cutting and heat-affected zone concerns

• Protected vessel integrity and inspection quality
• Safely captured the drop piece during removal

When the job demands precision, "good enough" isn't an option.

A defense nuclear manufacturer needed precise weld prep on pressure vessel-mounted components, but variations in manufactured parts necessitated hand grinding — a slow, inconsistent process that was impossible to standardize.

They needed a better way...
