Thursday Evening Estimated Restoration Update:
Please note that these times are estimates ONLY and may change based on conditions.

I-135 Substation Area (North and Northwest of Salina):
Power has been restored to most members served by the I-135 Substation.

Crawford Substation Area (West of Salina):
With the addition of extra mutual aid crews today, we were able to make significant progress in the Crawford area. Current estimates are for the majority of remaining Crawford members to be restored by the evening of Friday, June 12. With the restoration of the I-135 Substation, we have also been able to backfeed certain areas and restore power to portions of the Crawford system.

Magnolia Substation Area (East and Southeast of Salina):
Power has been restored to most members served by the Magnolia Substation.

Crews will continue working across our system to restore power to all remaining members. While many of the larger outages have now been restored, there are still numerous locations with downed poles and power lines causing smaller individual outages. As larger outage areas are completed, crews are shifting their focus to these remaining outages.

We appreciate your continued patience and support as our crews, along with mutual aid personnel, work safely and efficiently to restore service to everyone affected by this storm.

Two additional mutual aid crews have been brought in to assist with restoration efforts. This remains our hardest-hit area, and challenging conditions are slowing progress. Estimated restoration for the majority of those outages is Friday, June 12, in the evening.

Magnolia Area (East and Southeast of Salina):
Crews are working to restore power to the majority of affected members today.

We appreciate your patience as crews continue working safely to restore power in these challenging conditions.

Late last night, crews restored power to the Lindsborg/Marquette area. As of the latest count, 77 poles still need to be replaced before the lines can be re-energized. Additional crews arrived this morning to assist with rebuilding and tree trimming. Although significant progress was made yesterday, much work remains. Standing water and tree debris on the lines continue to slow restoration efforts. On the outage map, blue areas have power restored, while orange areas remain without service. We know extended outages are difficult, and we appreciate your patience as crews continue working to restore power.

⚡ How Power Is Restored After a Storm ⚡

After a major storm, crews do not restore power one home at a time. They work from the source outward to restore service to as many members as possible, as safely and quickly as possible.

Here is the general restoration process:

1️⃣ Substations first: We restore the main power delivery points. If a substation is offline, everything downstream remains out.

2️⃣ Main feeder lines: Next, we repair the high-capacity lines that serve communities and critical infrastructure.

3️⃣ Tap lines: Crews then move to the branch lines that carry power to specific roads, neighborhoods, and rural areas.

4️⃣ Individual service drops: Finally, we restore the lines that run directly to homes, barns, and other buildings.

Thank you for your patience and support as our crews work safely to restore power.

Evergy has added crews to help rebuild the transmission line in the Lindsborg/Marquette area and now expects power to be restored this afternoon. At the peak last night, more than 7,000 DSO meters were without power. That number has now dropped to 3,135.

We recognize that restoration has taken longer than expected, and we appreciate your patience and support as crews continue working in extreme conditions to restore power.
