Thank you for entrusting me to help you! I cannot thank you enough for the kind words. I truly feel blessed to be a part of this community!! Thank you again for this kind post, this means more to me than any dollar ever could. Have a great weekend everyone, this kind post just made my month!!
This morning we woke up to a corner of our shingles lifted and slamming back down on the roof from the wind last night. Good way to start the weekend 🫠especially when we're about to get straight line winds and 2 feet of snow.
Honestly, its been one thing after another it seems like. Oven shorted out almost starting a fire this past summer. Issues with a patio door company sending a defective door and poor customer service (NOT the contractor, he was great! Can't recommend Marvin though). Our washer broke and needed to be replaced a month or so ago and the first time we turned it on it poured water out of the bottom and needed to be replaced again. Just had carpet replaced which was a good experience but an expense nonetheless. And now today this.
I was pretty stressed about the roof. We had it replaced maybe 6 or so years ago by someone we thought of as such a close friend he was almost family to me and it turns out he cut a lot of corners on projects he did for us before our falling out. I posted in the community page for help with this and had TONS of offers for assistance and advice. Somerset really does come through when someone around here needs help.
Within hours, Eric from Goulet Construction was on our roof getting us taken care of. He was very professional, knew exactly what needed to happen and is even coming back to finish the visit when temps are up so the repair gets completed correctly since it's too cold right now for part of the repair. He jumped in on my post earlier to let me know this was not something I needed to put an insurance claim in for. I appreciated that. Not that I think everyone is out to capitalize, but for a business that could have definitely taken advantage of the situation to get more money to actually have my best interests in mind was refreshing. The ground is soft, its cold out, there's 20mph+ winds, it's a 2 story section, and he still had a fair price for the repair. Thank you Goulet Construction!
This is another example of shopping small and shopping local. Any large scale corporate company would have found every angle to get every cent they could from this situation. When you shop and do business with your neighbors, you get to network, build relationships, and contribute to a family business that shops, works, and plays in the same community as you.
