While 5/8" chipboard can be used for roof sheathing, insurance companies generally require 5/8" plywood or OSB for roof deck construction. This is because these materials provide better structural integrity and nail retention, which can be crucial for wind and weather resistance, and can reduce the risk of insurance claim denials.

We at Wildcat Builders know how important it is to install the correct size plywood, and that's why we always use 5/8 inch plywood on all our new construction and remodels.
