On Thursday last week, Team 102 had the opportunity to host a STEM-related activity for Bring Your Child to Work Day. The children were able to participate in the STEM activities we created for outreach events, including our electrical maze, electrical circuits, and mechanical Gearboxes. Our Gearboxes are STEM activity kits we have created that enables a quick grab-and-go setup, making outreach events like this more impactful and easier to prepare for. We also provided a demonstration of our 2026 robot to show the kids this year’s challenge.

We are proud to announce Chris, one of the winners of the FIRST Leadership Semi Finalist Award at the Montgomery District event.

On 102,Chris serves as our Vice President and Mechanical Lead.

Whether he is designing in CAD, building robot parts, or helping over 150 Girl Scouts earn their Robotics Badges, he leads with incredible patience and Gracious Professionalism. He is deeply dedicated to spreading STEM, from leading RoboCon NJ workshops to presenting to our sponsors. In the stressful moments of the competition pits, he naturally takes control, maintains a calm composure, and checks in on his teammates every step of the way. Chris is laser-focused on a future in the United States Navy and works incredibly hard to ensure his dreams become a reality.

We are thrilled to announce our FIRST Leadership Award nominee, Vikrant.

Vik is a true student of leadership who leads by example and constantly reflects on himself to ensure his actions align with his values. He has made contributions across all three major technical areas: programming, electrical, and mechanical. As our Public Relations lead, Vik drives our team's social media presence and has initiated several social media campaigns to help get our name out into the community. Not only has he re-engaged several alumni, but he has also caught the attention of an international student who came to visit when they were in the area. His maturity, open communication, and contagious enthusiasm make everyone around him better.

And that’s a wrap on the REBUILT season for Team 102.🧡🖤
While our journey ended a bit sooner than we hoped at Montgomery, we’re walking away with our heads high. From the long nights in the shop to every high-stakes match on the field, the Gearheads showed heart, resilience, and true teamwork.
We are so proud of everything we built this year not just the robot, but the community and the memories. Huge thank you to our mentors, parents, sponsors, and our seniors who gave it their all.
It’s been a wild ride. Time to rest, regroup, and get ready for the next one. 🤖✨

Introducing our 2026 Woodie Flowers Award nominee: Max Rutka.

Max, an alumnus of Team 102, always finds a way to strike the perfect balance between guiding students through tough engineering problems while giving them the freedom to test, fail, and succeed on their own. He never just gives students the answer; rather, he teaches them how to solve problems for themselves. Professionally, Max works as a civilian contractor for the DOD at Picatinny Arsenal. His enthusiasm for the team, the program, and STEM in general is contagious, and the team is incredibly grateful that Max is willing to share his knowledge with our students.
