🔴🌀WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: We are going to have the threat of weak, spin-up tornadoes Thursday afternoon and evening, mainly along and south of the I-20 corridor.
The energy from what is currently Tropical Storm Arthur will pass over North Georgia, with the tornado threat on the south side of whatever remains of the center. That being said, a couple of strong wind gusts (40-60 mph) will be possible across the entire area.
Heavy rain leading to flash flooding remains our greatest threat. Watch for that during the evening commute tomorrow and into the early hours of the overnight. A significantly moist tropical environment across Georgia will support high rain rates. Widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts of 5 inches or more.
Another round of storms is possible on Friday, which will be separate from Arthur's remnants. That's why the Flood Watch goes until Friday evening.
