Qualifications
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to multi-task in high-pace work environment
• Associate degree from a regionally accredited two-year college and 2+ years' of experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Customer Service; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office, AS400 or SAP and Transportation Management systems
• Proficient in Excel
• General knowledge of the transportation industry, DOT regulations, transportation rate structures and current trends
• Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
Responsibilities
• The Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for the effective management and coordination of a fleet of drivers
• This position is responsible for the routing and preparation of schedules, as well as dispatching of activities for fleet trucks and drivers
• This position is also responsible for arranging backhaul loads both from internal and external sources
• Responsible for the full dispatching and changes of fleet drivers and trucks
• Identify and evaluate deliveries by requirements, quantities, cost, etc. and arrange for fleet or carrier delivery as appropriate
• Problem solving through various transportation events
• Seeking and arranging backhaul loads for fleet equipment from both internal and external sources
• Perform to established goals and metrics
• Other duties as assigned to support the fleet department
• May perform other duties as assigned
