Traffic Safety Worker
Essential Function
Some knowledge of highway work environments and/or experience working in general construction industry. Willingness to learn Traffic Control standards and ensure safe work practices when on job sites.
Perform traffic control activities as needed, including: setting lane closures; installing traffic control signs; installing and removing temporary tape; operating pickups and flatbed trucks; loading and unloading materials; conducting routine maintenance and daily equipment inspections; other job duties according to job assignment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to speak, read and write in English.
Ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instruction.
Ability to work independently and in groups to accomplish daily activities.
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, project managers, engineers and other contractors’ representatives.
Ability to perform any and all of the following movements for extended periods of time: standing, walking, jogging, climbing, kneeling, squatting, bending at the waist, grasping, holding various tools, and lifting heavy (75+ LBS) objects in repeated motions.
Special Requirements
Must be reliable and show up to work at scheduled times. Work schedules will alternate and consist of both AM and PM hours.
Must be able to pass controlled substance test prior to and at all times during employment.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean MVR, Class C or B a plus.
Willingness to work in loud environments near moving traffic. Ability to work in outdoor conditions that include heat, humidity, rain and exposure to dust and/or asphalt.
