We're proud of another beautiful ipe hardwood stair system with a mid-dune deck; we built this on a foundation of galvanized pipes driven 8-plus feet into the dune and wrapped it in white Azek polymer trim. Over 800 holes were drilled free-hand to run the stainless cable railings and a new gate transitions guests from the existing deck to the new stair system. These custom-built Ipe hardwood beach stairs are designed for long-term durability and everyday enjoyment, featuring integrated routed handrails, stainless steel cable railings, and precision grommet details. The lower deck includes a custom gate, bench, and kayak rack—making this lake access system as functional as it is beautiful.

A custom Ipe fence lines the crest of the dune, providing a subtle, low-profile safety barrier that blends naturally into the landscape without interrupting views.

We’ll complete the project this spring with seasonal aluminum stairs installed over the rock revetment, creating safe, easy access to the Lake Michigan beach for family and guests.
