On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Mayor John Whitmire along with Councilman Joaquin Martinez, presented Jesus Villarreal, Jose Villarreal, and Frank Vazquez of VICO Manufacturing, Inc. a proclamation proclaiming September 25, 2025, as VICO Manufacturing Day!! This was an honor and a humbling experience for Jesus Villarreal and everyone at VICO Manufacturing. Jesus and his late wife, Velia Villarreal, are the founders of VICO Manufacturing, Inc. They arrived in the United States as immigrants from Mexico with big dreams of a better life for themselves and their families. They arrived in Chicago in 1967 where Jesus Villarreal began working at a metal fabrication company as a helper, but he was eager to learn the trade, so he enrolled in a trade school and quickly learned the art of “tool and & die making.” That is where his dream of one day owning his own business began.
