Onyx Specialty Papers, a manufacturing company located in Lee MA, is looking for a PROCESS CONTROL TECHNICIAN to fill a full time position in our Process Control group. This individual will assist in applying control principles and logical procedures to help optimize our manufacturing process while maintaining the integrity/health of the Distributive Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, machine drive systems, defect detection system and other related equipment in our paper making process.
The preferred candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or other related discipline, or 1-2 years of experience with DCS/PLC/Drive Systems. Demonstrated programming experience is a must, with experience in Function Block/ Ladder Logic preferred. A basic understanding of Windows OS (Command Prompt, IP Configuration, etc.) is also required.
We are looking for someone with a good balance of analytical skills (problem solving, data analysis) and technical skills (programming, validation and testing). Focus and attention to detail to ensure new programs or program modifications result in the desired outcomes is essential. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with solid time management and organizational skills.
Typical Duties Include:
· Analyze process problems and implement DCS/ PLC/ Drives solutions
· Assist in control system software changes in support of manufacturing process improvements
· Troubleshoot and resolve basic LAN performance, connectivity, and related network problems.
· Analyze, develop and implement modifications, maintenance and upgrades to the mill’s control and drive systems.
· Provide capital project support as it effects process and control systems.
· Minimize control and drive system downtime.
· Respond to control system problems during off hours in support of our 24 hour/day operation
