“From the bottom up he wanted everything to be good.” Dominic Devito helped shape the tradition of care, precision, and passion at Fox Products that is built into every clarinet, bassoon, and oboe that leaves our factory.

Please join us in congratulating Linc Linn on his retirement after 40 and a half years of working at Fox Products!

Joining the team in December of 1985, Linc was employee number 43! A key mounter, Linc has spent the last four decades making keys for keys for oboes, English horns, and just recently clarinets. When he first started at Fox, we were making oboes with serial numbers in the 4000s, and new oboe serial numbers are in the 40,000s today. By our estimations, Linc has made keys for well over 10,000 instruments over the years!

When asked what he enjoyed about working at Fox, Linc pointed to the flexibility the job has offered him over the years, along with the close-knit, small company feel Fox had when he first started. He has fond memories of company picnics and Christmas parties with his coworkers, including the time he robbed Alan Fox of a hit with a diving catch in the outfield.

Linc’s coworkers describe him as a lot of fun and a wealth of knowledge. A loyal Indiana University fan, Linc has been organizing the company March Madness bracket for years. He may pass along the torch, but he says he may still organize and score it for Fox from home. Coworkers appreciate that Linc was always quick to share his tricks of the trade and said that he makes the difficult job of key mounting look easy. Linc is also known for being an incredible baker! His carrot cake, sugar cream pie, and chocolate chip cookies are legendary around the factory and will be missed almost as much as Linc.

What's next for Linc now that he's retiring? He and his wife are headed to Italy for a vacation this October, and he's looking forward to spending more time with his grandkids and potentially doing some traveling out west.

Congratulations, Linc!

Please join us in congratulating Tami Peters on her retirement after just shy of 13 years of working at Fox Products!

Tami has been a member of the team at Fox since August of 2013. A wearer of many hats, she started out doing order entry. Tami later served as the bassoon finishing supervisor for about 4 years before moving back into a customer-facing role managing the customer service department. Her experience in production really helped her learn about our products and how we make them, which helped her serve our customers better when she moved back into a customer service role.

She’s been with the company through changes, product launches, and renovations! When asked about changes over the years, Tami mentioned that a lot has changed for the better in her time at Fox. In addition to the obvious upgrades to the facilities, she said there is better communication and connection between administrative and production staff and increased participation in trade shows and events.

Sister-in-law to our owners, Tony and Lori Starkey, Tami really enjoyed getting to work with her family, though she said that after all her time working a lot of her coworkers feel like extended family members too. Tami also loved getting to build so many great relationships with our dealers and especially enjoyed attending the NAMM Show and seeing so many of our dealers in person.

Tami’s coworkers describe her as incredibly thoughtful, kind, and calm and someone that is always calm and in control of herself. She’s known around the factory as someone who will always find a way to get hard things done, and her breadth of knowledge helped her solve all kinds of problems as they popped up. Employees whom she supervised said that she always made them feel supported and that Tami made sure that her employees’ voices were heard. One even described Tami as the best boss they ever had.

What’s next for Tami now that she is retiring? In the short term she’s looking forward to hanging out at the lake for the rest of the summer, playing more pickleball, and hanging out with her kids and grandkids in addition to getting to sleep in.

Congratulations, Tami!

This week we welcomed our friends from Meridian Winds, a Fox Dealer based in Michigan, to the factory for a behind the scenes look at how our instruments are made. The team, Sarah Ellul, Clarinet Repair Specialist, Colton Germane, School Service Representative, and Stephanie Hanan, Woodwind Specialist, were especially interested in learning more about how we make our clarinets. Meridian Winds just added another Fox Model 5800 to their inventory if you’re in Michigan and want to check one out!
Thanks so much for visiting!
