A THANK YOU note to Carlinville…
Sorry in advance for the long post. Got a lot to cover:
It’s with a mix of excitement and a bit of sadness we are announcing Gibbel Construction will be closing business in Illinois over the next couple of months as we are winding down our current projects.
As many of you know, my family relocated to North Carolina almost two years ago. We have continued to successfully operate with my crew in IL while I’ve managed some things long-distance. However, after discussions with my family and those involved, it’s clear the time is right to place all our energy into the community we live in. We love our home in Southport and are excited about the many opportunities available here in Brunswick County.
It is difficult to let go of something I’ve poured so much into and a community that supported us for so long. The work here will remain much the same, but it’s tough saying goodbye to the people and relationships developed over the last 13 years. The people— my team, subcontractors, clients, vendors, etc.— are what make this business enjoyable and there are a lot of great ones in the Carlinville area.
However, I’m looking forward to being able to focus 100% on serving the peoole in Southport and neighboring communities this fall.
THANK YOU CARLINVILLE:
I want to personally thank all our clients in Carlinville and the surrounding areas I’ve worked with over the past 13 years. So many of you have turned into friends and continued to do business with us year after year.
While earning a profit is great, it’s hard to put a value on having someone thrilled with your work in their home, or being able to bring peace to what can often be stressful situations for homeowners, but it’s definitely one of the more rewarding aspects of the business.
I remember vividly the early days of starting with no money and no customer list and just praying to land enough jobs to be able to take a check at the end of the week. Fast-forward to the last few years, and the struggle has shifted to keeping up with demand and still being able to deliver the level of service you want to provide to everyone. I’ve always relied on word-of-mouth advertising to grow the business, and you delivered, year after year. I’m forever grateful for all of you!
THANK YOU TO MY TEAM:
Thank you, Gary & Will, and my part-timers, Aiden and Carter.
Gary Beck came to me 6 years ago with no construction experience but had a passion to learn and lead. Four years later, I was confident enough to leave the daily operation of the business in his hands as I moved halfway across the country. If you’ve ever owned a business, you know how hard it is to trust someone with that kind of responsibility, but he earned it.
His job was made easier because of Will Shipley. Will also came 5 years ago with minimal experience and has developed into a critical member of the team through hard work and consistency. He’s played a huge role in any success we’ve had.
The good news for Carlinville is this same crew will be continuing to take on future jobs as Gary starts his own business in the coming weeks. It will be a pleasure to see them continue to grow in the years to come and know I was able to play a small role in their early development. They have a bright future ahead of them.
THANK YOU TO MY WIFE:
for her continued support through all the ups and downs and uncertainties. Starting a business isn’t for the faint of heart, but neither is being the spouse of a business owner. It’s a difficult role, and you make it look easy. Thank you for always being the one certainty at the end of the day. That’s more valuable than you know. On to the next chapter…
Once again, thank you, Carlinville, for the support, and we’ll see you around from time to time!
Stayed tuned to this page if you want to follow our journey here in Southport.
