Wednesday, Eastern Shore. Here's something most people get wrong.
You walk into a hot house, so you crank the thermostat way down to like 65 thinking it'll cool things off faster. We've all done it. Problem is, it doesn't work that way.
Your AC doesn't cool faster when you set it lower.
It cools at the same speed no matter what number you pick. Setting it to 65 instead of 74 doesn't get you cool any quicker. All it does is make your system run way longer trying to hit a temperature you probably didn't even want. Then you're freezing, you bump it back up, and you've just burned through energy for nothing.
Think of it like a faucet. Turning it on full blast doesn't fill the glass faster than it already does. Your AC works the same way. One speed. Steady.
What actually helps cool your house faster:
Close blinds on sunny windows. Blocks a ton of heat.
Run your ceiling fans. Makes you feel cooler so you don't need it as cold.
Keep a clean filter so air actually moves freely.
Set it to where you want it and let it work.
Set it and forget it. Your system and your bill will both thank you.
Got a house that takes forever to cool no matter what you do? That's a different problem. Give us a call and we'll figure out what's really going on.
