The foundation for a stronger, more resilient future starts below ground.

This week, Q&D Construction crews are preparing to pour footings for a new protective wall at the Kingsbury Substation near Stateline, Nevada. The NV Energy project is part of a wildfire mitigation effort designed to help safeguard critical electrical infrastructure serving the Lake Tahoe region.

Before the wall can rise, our teams are focused on the precision work that makes it all possible—excavation, grading, forming, and footing preparation. It's another example of the skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail our crews bring to every project, from the ground up.

🚧 Improving One of Nevada's Most Scenic Highways 🚧

Q&D Construction crews are hard at work along the east shore of Lake Tahoe as construction continues on the Nevada Department of Transportation's two-year U.S. 50 Stateline-to-Spooner Summit Repaving Project.

Now in its second and final construction season, this important infrastructure improvement project stretches from the Nevada-California state line near Stateline to Spooner Summit and is helping enhance safety, mobility, and the long-term durability of a critical transportation corridor serving residents and visitors alike.

Current work includes:
✔️ Repaving more than seven miles of U.S. 50 between Cave Rock and Spooner Summit
✔️ Completing a one-mile segment between Round Hill and Zephyr Cove
✔️ Upgrading drainage infrastructure
✔️ Improving curb and gutter systems
✔️ Replacing guardrails and concrete barriers
✔️ Performing final striping and roadway safety enhancements

During the 2025 construction season, crews successfully repaved approximately 5.5 miles of highway through the Stateline corridor, installed new asphalt from Stateline to just south of Cave Rock, and began numerous drainage and roadside safety improvements.

Construction is expected to continue through October 2026. We appreciate the patience of motorists traveling through the work zone as our teams continue delivering improvements that will benefit the Lake Tahoe region for years to come.

Last week's midweek rain showers may have slowed some construction projects in the Truckee Meadows but our Q&D crews stayed in work mode everywhere a little precipitation could be managed. One crew was busy improving road conditions at the entry of the Sorrento Trail Gated Community in South Reno. The Bella Vista HOA contracted Q&D to remove settling, defective pavers and then pour back colored and stamped concrete as well as refurbish the entry-and-exit gates.

✈️ Another major milestone takes flight at Spokane International Airport!

Tuesday marked the official unveiling of the new Concourse C East expansion as part of Spokane International Airport’s transformational TREX Program. Q&D Construction is proud to partner with Garco Construction and Spokane Airports on this significant modernization effort that will enhance the passenger experience for years to come.

The newly expanded concourse adds modern boarding gates, updated passenger amenities, and expanded terminal capacity designed to support the Inland Northwest’s continued growth. Seeing this vision come to life alongside airport leaders, project partners, and community stakeholders was a proud moment for everyone involved.

Thank you to the incredible crews, trade partners, designers, and airport staff whose hard work and collaboration helped make today possible. More progress is still ahead, and we’re honored to continue helping shape the future of air travel in Spokane. ✈️🚧

This Memorial Day, Q&D Construction will proudly pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Rooted in the long-standing American tradition that began after the Civil War as a day of remembrance for fallen soldiers, Memorial Day stands as a solemn reminder that the freedoms we build upon every day were secured through extraordinary courage and sacrifice. As families gather across the country, Q&D remains committed to honoring those heroes through reflection, gratitude, and service to the communities they helped protect.

🚧 Progress at Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s Future Ground Transportation Center and ConRAC! ✈️

Work continues adjacent to Terminal Way as construction moves forward on the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s upcoming Ground Transportation Center (GTC) and consolidated rental car facility (ConRAC) — a transformative project valued at nearly $300 million, and Q&D Construction is proud to be a key contractor helping bring it to life.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, Q&D crews were hard at work tackling a wide range of critical tasks, including:
🛠️ Digging a major excavation that will house three new fuel tanks for rental car operations
🚜 Completing street prep work along Terminal Way ahead of a paving project scheduled for the coming days
🪨 Managing a dig site requiring fill rock as it’s prepared for a new sand-oil separator
📍 Keeping dirt and rock reserves organized, accessible, and ready for efficient fill use

The GTC and ConRAC will centralize rental cars, taxis, shuttles, and rideshare services into a state-of-the-art four-story facility, improving travel efficiency and creating a more seamless airport experience for the Reno-Tahoe community and visitors alike.

📅 The project is expected to be completed in 2028, and we’re excited to be part of this major step forward for regional transportation infrastructure.
