The topping-off of a building, marked by the placement of the final structural beam, is a long-standing construction tradition that symbolizes respect, teamwork, and progress. This ceremony honors the craftsmanship and collaboration that bring a project to life. As the final beam is set in place, we celebrate the remarkable transformation of Fern Bacon Middle School. We’re grateful for our Balfour Beatty US + Clark/Sullivan Construction team, whose dedication has helped turn this vision into reality. This milestone marks major progress on the near-total rebuild of a campus that has served South Sacramento students since 1960.

Along with the ground-up construction, the existing multipurpose building and gymnasium are being modernized, and the site is getting extensive improvements, giving students a campus built for how they learn today. We're proud of the collaboration that got us here and excited for the impact this school will have for years to come.

Join us in celebrating our recent Pinnacle Award from Nevada Chapter AGC! We’re incredibly proud of our project team for their outstanding work on the Heroes Memorial Historic Building & Annex Retrofit. Their efforts earned top honors in Contractor’s Excellence for Sustainability and Sensitivity to Environment, History, and Culture.

C/S completed a full renovation and structural retrofit of the 18,000-square-foot Heroes Memorial Building in Carson City, now home to the Attorney General’s Office. Originally built in 1921, the project carefully preserved key historic features like the brick façade, windows, and central stairwell. The upgrade also included major seismic improvements, new foundations, steel brace frames, and a full replacement of the utility plant, all completed while the adjacent building remained operational.

The César E. Chávez Elementary School Project has been recognized with a CMAA NorCal Project Achievement Award in the Buildings $50M–$99M category!

We celebrated the achievement with a memorable evening at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, surrounded by classic cars, delicious chocolate cake, and a strong sense of pride.

C/S is proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Colusa County Detention and Treatment Facility. The event brought together community leaders and project partners, all united in recognizing the completion of this vital project.

Delivered through a collaborative Design-Build approach alongside Arrington Watkins Architects and our joint venture partner Broward Builders, this facility represents a significant advancement for Colusa County. Spanning approximately 33,700 square feet, it features 96 new detention beds, greatly expanding the County’s detention and treatment capabilities.

We are honored to have contributed to bringing this project to life and are proud to support a development that will enhance community safety and overall well-being.
