This is the rooftop array at First Congregational Church La Crosse in La Crosse — 127 panels turning sunshine into savings for a congregation instead of the power company.

How does solar actually work? Let's keep it kitchen-table simple ☀️

1. The panel soaks up sunlight and turns it into electricity.
2. A microinverter — a little box under each panel — converts it into the kind of electricity your house runs on.
3. It flows to your breaker panel: lights, fridge, furnace fan, all of it.
4. Whatever you don't use heads out to the grid, and your utility credits you for it. (That's net metering — we covered it Oct 20.)

Another Wisconsin utility just asked for a raise. Wisconsin Public Service wants to bump the average electric bill about $11 a month in 2027, then another $5 in 2028. Their customers' bills are already up 34% since 2017.

Different utility, same story across Wisconsin — the ride only goes up. Nobody's bill has ever gone down on its own.

Solar is how you get off the ride. Your roof makes your power, so the next rate hike happens to somebody else.

Ever seen a solar array that follows the sun? ☀️

This 4.8 kW system in Mindoro sits on a dual-axis tracker — a pole-mounted array that tilts and turns all day to face the sun head-on. More direct sun on every panel means more power from the same equipment.

We recently serviced this one (new panels) — we didn't do the original install, but keeping local solar running right matters to us either way.
