This I a good example on why you should always have CO detectors. The customer still had heat but was concerned about all the condensation buildup in the utility room. Both the water heater and the furnace were dumping the flue gas back through the water heater.

This hear is a good reason to have your dryer and venting clean from time to time. Customer stated that they had a bit of a squealing noise and loud thumping noise. Come to find out one of rollers had seized created a bald spot in it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a picture of the burn marks from the rollers rubbing against the lint. But I’m thankful we clean the dryer before it could catch fire.

Yearly check ups, might be able to prevent something like this happening to you. This is due to the venting not being sloped properly on the furnace, causing a bunch of water to build up and separating the heat exchanger. The furnace had to be replaced because it was not able to keep up and kept going on lockout due to the flames hitting the rollout switch. And the AC was covered due to no maintenance. homeowner stated the house is owned by hoarders prior in the past. This is also a good reason to have your equipment checked upon buying a new house, making sure everything’s up to spec.

Water heater was leaking due to its age. But closer inspection I had found. That all the venting for the water heater and furnace was deteriorating. This is a good reason to make sure that you have inspections done every so often to make sure equipment is up to spec. Also, this a good lesson to see that you need CO alarms in your house to make sure that you don’t have carbon monoxide coming back in. These customers did not have CO alarms in the house either. Thankfully they never experienced any CO poisoning or any symptoms of it.

The customer stated they were unable to get the smell to come out of the washing machine, even after multiple attempts of cleaning. We came out, changed the door and found the drain line was also clogged and full of mold and hair. We got them back up and running and washing clothes clean again.
