SKIATOOK, OK — A 20-year-old Oklahoma man who survived a devastating brain rupture and stroke celebrated his birthday with an extraordinary gift: a private Orthodox prayer chapel built in his family’s backyard through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, reportedly the first request of its kind ever granted in the state.

As reported by News On 6 in Tulsa, four years ago, Mason Teague called 911 himself after suffering the rupture that left him deaf, visually impaired, and unable to walk. Despite the challenges, Mason graduated high school on Thursday, turned 20 on Friday, and on Saturday watched as volunteers unveiled the chapel he had long dreamed of having.

Mason’s Chapel reveal!❤️

What started as a wish through Make-A-Wish Oklahoma became something truly special because an entire community came together to make it happen.

Yesterday, Make-A-Wish hosted a beautiful reveal celebration for Mason Teague, surrounded by family, friends, volunteers, contractors, and supporters who helped bring his prayer chapel to life. Seeing Mason experience his very own backyard chapel, a place where he can worship, pray, and feel close to God anytime he wants, was a moment none of us will forget.

This project was only possible because so many people answered the call to help. From donated materials and labor to countless hours of service, our local community showed up in an incredible way.

We are deeply grateful to every contractor, vendor, volunteer, and supporter who played a part in making this wish a reality. Thank you to the Skiatook Chamber of Commerce for referring us for this project, and especially to John Blackwell, Make-A-Wish volunteer, for inviting us to be part of something so meaningful.

There is no doubt God had His hand in this project from start to finish. Thank you to everyone who helped give Mason a place of peace, faith, and hope. ❤️

Shout out to New Creation Junk Removal for getting the Make-A-Wish Oklahoma Chapel project cleaned up and ready for the big reveal. We are overwhelmed with the local support, to say the least.

Update!! We’ve got someone to clean. Thank you!!

We are looking for someone to donate their cleaning services for a Make-A-Wish project in Skiatook. It’s a new construction 10x12 building. We need it cleaned Friday afternoon. Has a glass insert door and two windows, tile floor, and trim that need cleaned. Would be a bonus if you could pressure wash small concrete porch and sidewalk.

Another huge milestone reached on the Make-A-Wish chapel project for Mason! 🙌

Framing, roofing, electrical rough-in, insulation, sheetrock, tile, and trim are now complete and tomorrow, paint begins! 🎨

This project has come together so quickly thanks to an incredible group of people willing to donate their time, skills, materials, and hearts to help make Mason’s wish a reality. We are working diligently to have everything ready in time for the big reveal on May 16th, and we cannot wait to see Mason experience his very own personal prayer chapel. 🤍
