GLR Engineers has completed construction administration services for Midway Market, a new 18,000-square-foot neighborhood grocery store located at the intersection of Hatch Road and Highway 395 just north of Spokane, Washington. Developed in collaboration with URM Stores and Bernardo Wills Architecture; and built by Kilgore Construction, the boutique market features a full-service bistro, on-site coffee roasting, and an artisan bakery, creating a distinctive community shopping destination.
The building's structural system incorporates metal deck supported by wide-flange beams and open-web steel joists. A raised central roof with clerestory windows introduces abundant natural daylight into the interior, enhancing the customer experience while complementing the building's architectural design. Exterior walls are constructed of architectural-grade, stacked-bond concrete masonry units (CMU).
The successful completion of construction marks the delivery of a thoughtfully designed retail facility that combines architectural character with durable, efficient structural engineering.
