Heavy Equipment Operator / Residential Excavator:
Camco Construction, Inc. is a family owned, local Construction and Excavation company that has a 46+ year track record of excellence. We pride ourselves in providing a full time, year round, family focused working environment.

Overview:
Our ideal candidate has varied excavation experience, but we consider all individuals possessing the appropriate skillset and desire to learn and grow. You must be able to coordinate and collaborate with other workers and supervisors on-site, so clear communication skills are crucial. You should have the skills to operate most pieces of heavy equipment, such as a loader, dozer, or backhoe. Trucking experience, including experience with both driving and loading and unloading materials, is also a plus.

• Flexibility: We offer 10 hour shifts during the summer months to utilize daylight and the opportunity for more family time.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Experience: Familiar with the principles of machine operation. Experience with Backhoe, Loader, Excavator, Mini Excavator, Bobcat, and Dump Truck preferred. Completed apprenticeship program is preferred but not required.
• Maintenance: We do our best to take good care of our equipment since it’s the means to completing our services. Vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance experience is highly recommended.
• Skills: You will be interacting with other team members as well as customers so good communication skills are necessary to perform your job.
• Characteristics: We are looking for an honest, hardworking and dependable individual to complement our team. Due to the nature of our work, you will primarily be working outside and in the equipment. This role frequently requires long days of operating machinery, as well as climbing in and out of a machine, so physical stamina and strength is necessary.

Responsibilities:
• Operate Construction Machinery: We work primarily with backhoes and mini excavators, however we do use full size excavators as well. You may also be responsible for operating forklifts, bulldozers, and dump trucks. The ability to safely off and on-load our machines, follow site plans to ensure holes are dug with the proper dimension for the project, and build foundations and roadways.
• Prepare Sites for Digging: Prepare sites by removing brush and marking out boundaries. Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, along with working closely with surveyors and site engineers to ensure that dig areas are properly measured and marked, and that the intended dig site is free of underground utilities.
• Oversee Maintenance & Repairs: Ensure that the equipment remains in proper working order by performing routine maintenance and simple repairs. Conduct periodic checks of equipment and note any mechanical issues. Report any issues or specialty repairs needed to superior. Remove dirt from the building areas.
• Maintain Job Site Safety: Play a central role in maintaining job site safety. This includes a variety of tasks, ranging from making sure that work areas and cleared before beginning digging, to following proper procedures around machine shutdown and storage. Also, ensure that holes in the ground are clearly marked to prevent individuals from falling in and conduct periodic checks to remove hazards from work areas.
• Remove Job Site Debris: Prepare sites for continued work by removing debris while digging. Move debris or load on a truck for removal, in addition to saving material for back-fill.
• Work As A Team: Work with crews, site engineers, subcontractors, and surveyors as well as our Camco Team, and supervisor/estimator to determine the scope of projects as well as complete work in a timely, safe, and competent manor to deliver the best we can for our customers.

You must know how to read and interpret blueprints, work with raw and finish materials, and have a good working knowledge of standard industry tools and equipment. An individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail is preferred. In addition, the ideal candidate must work well with little supervision while following all health and safety standards. Our goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.

• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed for a project.
