Meet one of the people helping drive excellence at ExxonMobil Pipeline Company, Corey Wheaton. Growing up in Nova Scotia and inspired by early STEM experiences, Corey joined ExxonMobil seven years ago and has built a successful career spanning project management, sales and operations.

Today, as Process Lead at Finch Terminal, Corey helps lead the safe and reliable operation of one of North America’s highest throughput distribution terminals. His team recently added new products at Finch, helping create opportunities for renewable fuels in the future – an accomplishment he’s proud of and a testament to his team’s commitment to advancing our operations.

Beyond the terminal, Corey and the Finch team are dedicated to giving back, participating in more than a dozen community volunteer activities each year. From supporting local food banks to volunteering with STEM organizations, they’re helping strengthen the communities where we live and work and inspiring the next generation of problem solvers.

Thank you, Corey, for the work you do to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operations at our Finch Terminal, and the time you spend giving back to the communities we serve.

Yesterday, SOWELA Technical Community College celebrated the ribbon cutting of its new multi-purpose room, marking an exciting addition to the Oakdale campus! The event also included over 40 educators showcasing projects they created during their week-long summer STEM Professional Development program.

Made possible through an ExxonMobil Giving $225,000 contribution, the space and professional development program are a continued investment in education and collaboration. ExxonMobil was represented by Mindy Green, Michael Butler, and Jade Duplessis, with special remarks from ExxonMobil Foundation President Alvin Abraham.

Also in attendance to commemorate the occasion was Louisiana Community and Technical College System President Richard Nelson, SOWELA Chancellor Dr. Neil Aspinwall, Allen Parish School Board Superintendent Brad Soileau, and local community leaders.

We’re excited to see how this new multi-purpose room will be used by both SOWELA and the community and we wish all the teachers all the best as they head back to school.

This week, 19 first-year engineering students attended the four-day Carbon STEM Summer Camp at Tennessee State University.

They learned about carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology and will be teaching the project to middle and high school students during the school year. These students have been part of an 8-week summer program preparing them for their upcoming engineering classes. Instructors from the Tapia Center provided training for these students, including principles of Project Based Learning (PBL) and carbon.

Thursday was ExxonMobil Day. It included a Nashville Terminal tour where Brian Daniel, Perrion Barbour, Jessica Terhesh, John Waddell and Edwin Williams hosted and spoke to the students about CCS advancements and applying STEM skills within the energy industry.

These students are tomorrow’s innovators, and we’re proud to be part of their educational journeys as they learn more about STEM and the career pathways it provides.
