Where does the color in your food come from? 🎨

The colors on U.S. shelves are changing. Red No. 3 is out of U.S. food from Jan. 15, 2027. Six more synthetic dyes are part of a voluntary phase-out food makers are aiming to finish by the end of 2027.

Many brands are switching to color from plants: beets, carrots, turmeric and butterfly pea flowers.

One thing doesn't change. Plant or synthetic, every color belongs on the label.
