In 1940, Paul Mueller and his partner Gordon Mann opened Mann and Mueller Heating and Sheet Metal Works. Their first employee was Joe White, who eventually became our Executive Vice President. In 1943, Paul bought Gordon Mann's share of the business after Mr. Mann became ill, and the name of the business was changed to Paul Mueller Company. 1944 marked our first venture into the food processing bu

siness. We made chicken pluckers, scalders, and eviscerating equipment for a super salesman named Kent Tomlinson. We were incorporated in Missouri in 1946, and that same year we began manufacturing dairy processing equipment for the first time: cheese vats, culture tanks, and cheese presses.

Joe (Quality) noticed that the head-fitting area was struggling with several quality issues. Since Joe has experience in this area, he took a couple of days away from his normal duties to mentor the coworkers in this area on the best way to build the tanks. Joe’s initiative was very productive and has helped to prevent future quality issues.

Skyler, Blake, Dean, David, Chad, and Brandon (Life Sciences) were able to complete 14 Vessel CIP Tests for a customer in four days. This required extensive preparation and collaboration among teams prior to the week of testing to ensure all 14 tanks were tested within that week. The customer was very impressed with our overall readiness and preparation to test all these tanks, and we were able to eliminate a second planned trip.
