ONGOING HIRING for GENERAL LABORER position. APPLY in person at 2000 E. Cornell, Springfield. MUST HAVE 2 forms of identification to apply: 1. drivers license or state ID; AND 2. certified birth certificate or social security card.
Job Duties:
• Cuts and cleans lumber to build skids, pallets, boxes, crates and other industrial wood products using industrial power saws, grinders, drills, nail/staple guns, and impact wrenches.
• Reads and interprets plans, instructions, diagrams and specifications to determine work activities.
• Maintains tools and equipment in ready-for-service condition including, industrial saws and pneumatic tools used in the assembly of wood packaging systems.
• Performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
• Follows company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
• Other tasks as needed
Work Environment:
• Work in indoor and outdoor weather conditions, including extreme hot or cold temperatures
• Work near moving machinery and equipment - could include electrical hazards
• Work in a noisy environment
Physical Requirements:
• Carrying/Lifting 10 - 40 Pounds frequently
• Carrying/Lifting > 50 Pounds occasionally
• Standing/Walking/Climbing
• Squatting/Crouching/Kneeling/Bending
• Pushing/Pulling/Twisting/Reaching Above Shoulder
Experience & Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 0-2 years of related experience.
• Strong work ethic
• Ability and willingness to learn and be trained
• Ability to read and understand instructions and interpret diagrams
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulation
• Exercise good judgment regarding work site unloading and operation
• Ability to work as a team
• Safety minded when performing tasks
• Knowledge of commonly used manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures preferred.
Experience with machines and tools used in construction, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance is a plus
• Experience driving a forklift is preferred; training will be provided
